Plot
*****
The plot of School Rumble covers the daily lives of students of the fictional Yagami High School and their surroundings. The series is of the romance comedy genre, with scenes in the story being exaggerated for comedic purposes.
The female protagonist is Tenma Tsukamoto, a second year high school girl with no special qualities who has a crush on Oji Karasuma, a stonefaced eccentric. The generally clueless Tenma finds it difficult to confess her love to him. Complications arise with Kenji Harima, the male protagonist and a delinquent, who has developed a crush on Tenma. He too has difficulty confessing to her. The attempts of the two characters to confess their respective loves are running gags seen throughout the series.
As the series progresses, the story changes focus to the relationship that develops between Harima and Tenma's close friend, Eri Sawachika, which results from various embarrassing situations involving Eri and Harima. Harima also develops a relationship with Tenma's younger sister Yakumo Tsukamoto, who begins to assist Harima with the development and drawing of his manga.
As the story progresses, Harima gets himself into romantic situations with Tenma, the relationship between Tenma and Karasuma progresses, and Eri's and Yakumo's bonds with Harima grow stronger.
Main Character
*******************
There is not all of character in School Rumble included because there is so many character in this movie. So, I just tell the main character..Okey? ;)
1. Tenma TsukamotoTsukamoto Tenma is the first character that School Rumble introduces. Even though she is presented as the main character at the beginning of the series, she gradually falls into a supporting role towards the end of Season 1. She is nevertheless, an important character in School Rumble, and one of the most popular among the fans. The older of the two Tsukamoto sisters, her childish appearance and behavior often make people think she’s actually the younger one.
Talents
*********
Tenma’s most notable talent is impersonation. Whenever she gets carried away by her wild imagination and occurrences, she can actually become someone else and incorporate the traits and abilities of that particular personality. The Archer in episode #3 and the Pitcher in episode #5 are good examples of this.
Even though it’s only shown briefly in episode #5, Tenma appears to actually be good at Judo or some similar martial art, as she easily threw Harima to the ground when they first met.
Ultimately, her most characteristic trait is probably her outgoing, kind, and friendly personality, which makes everyone like her; therefore, we could say that Tenma is really good at making friends.
Now if we wanted to list the things she’s not good at, this page wouldn’t be enough. Nevertheless, her short list from episode #1 includes cooking, sports, and school work.
2. Sawachika EriFrom her introduction onwards, Eri is characterized as having a dual nature. Talented, beautiful, wealthy, and popular, she is admired and envied by her classmates for the glamourous lifestyle that many believe her to lead. In reality, however, Eri uses this image and her outward confidence to mask her inward feelings of loneliness and insecurity. er social status makes her unapproachable to many of her classmates and leaves her somewhat isolated from her peers. Even at home, her parents are away on business more frequently than not. The process by which Eri grows and matures, as she starts to develop deeper friendships and searches for love, forms the backbone of one of the main plotlines in the story.
Tallents and Weakness
****************************
A fast learner, Eri picks up most skills and ideas very quickly. This shows in her studies, earning her high marks in most of her subjects. While not as athletic as her close friend, Suou Mikoto, Eri is strong at a number of sports. She is an extremely fast runner, winning races at the school's athletics festival. Due to an injured leg, however, she is unable to complete in the school's relay race.
Eri's ability to learn new skills with ease carries over into sports as well. Despite her inexperience at playing softball, she becomes an effective pitcher in a short period of time, after listening to the advice of her peers. Eri is very competent with a rifle, showing proficiency at skeet shooting. She is also an expert skier and Kendo practitioner.
Outside of Sports, Eri shows her talents in acting. She plays the lead role for both the Cultural Festival Play and the Class Movie, and she has a reputation for never forgetting her lines. She is also skilled at hairstyling and fashion, which she considers as careers that she may enter into in the future. Despite her many talents, Eri is consistantly weak in a number of areas, leading to a sense of inadequacy that she hides behind her pride in her many accomplishments. As a foreigner to Japan, she is weak in her use of Kanji. This causes her to occasionally misread or misuse words, often resulting in a comedic effect. She is a terrible cook, being only marginally better than her classmate and friend, Tsukamoto Tenma. She prefers making curry to nikujaga, based on her father's preference. Eri's other weaknesses include sewing and swimming, although she does learn to swim a distance of 2 metres under Harima's "guidance."
3. Suou Mikoto Mikoto is a close friend of Tenma Tsukamoto. She is a well-endowed young woman, but is also tomboyish. She has a black belt in Kenpo, and is often seen sparring with her childhood friend Haruki Hanai. Mikoto is a good athlete, learning how to swim when she had to, and becoming a competent basketball player in a short amount of time. Although she is always trying to help out others when she sees them in trouble or having emotional/relationship problems, she is a rather klutz when it comes to facing her own relationship emotions.

A martial arts expert, Mikoto also stands out for her amazing physical prowess, and talent at most sports, making her one of the school champions at the Sports Festival, where her class, 2C, comes out victorious. Initially unable to swim, Mikoto was supposed to be given swimming lessons by her classmate Imadori Kyousuke during a trip to the beach, but after going too far out into the ocean they get swept in and end up in a cave. In order to return to shore, she eventually forces herself to learn how to swim, going a distance of 5 kilometers back to shore; probably becoming the best swimmer among the School Rumble girls.
4. Takano Akira The smartest of the main female characters in School Rumble, Akira is the brains and strategist of the group. Always keeping a low profile, her quiet nature keeps her from drawing attention to herself, which Akira uses to her advantage to gather information on her classmates and seems to know every detail of their personal lives. Curious by nature, Akira analyzes everything she sees in a very meticulous way and always seems to be one step ahead of everybody.

The president of the Tea Club, Akira is well-learned in the art of brewing and serving tea, as well as keeping the club free from unwanted people, as demonstrated in episode #5, where she tricks Hanai Haruki into taking a tea-tasting test in order for him to join the club and be able to be around Tsukamoto Yakumo; a test which he fails miserably, as it was arranged by Akira. She is also an avid reader and maintains a part-time job at a bookstore in order to have more time to read. Her interest in reading stories has led to a corresponding interest in writing them. In fact, she was selected to write the script for the play class 2-C performed in the cultural festival. Due to certain unforseen curcumstances Akira had to rework the end of play while it was in progress, but with the help of her classmates she was able to make it a success. Sensible and intelligent, Akira seems to be very financially savvy, a trait she also seems to value in guys. Though somewhat introverted, she frequently takes on the role of director or supervisor, such as in the Gun Battle arc, 2-C's class play and cafe, Tea Club, and the mountainside picnic cookoff. In the Gun Battle arc of the Manga and Anime, Akira demonstrates her skills as a video editor, turning the student battle into an movie, apparently for her own amusement. A very mysterious character indeed, Akira is rumored to actually be an international spy. This is shown briefly during a short CG animation in season 1 episode 17 and again in season two episode 7, where she demonstrates her great physical abilities, such as fighting and gymnastics, as well as riding a motorcycle. Fitting well with her job as a spy, Akira has displayed skill with the use and concealment of handguns.
5. Tsukamoto YakumoMysterious and soft spoken, Tsukamoto Yakumo (also referred to by Harima Kenji as Imouto-san) carries a strong presence with her wherever she goes. She can hear the thoughts of people who have strong feelings for her and is a member of the Tea Club. She has a tendency to fall asleep anywhere and is afraid of dogs. She also works at Cafe Mercado.
Yakumo makes her debut appearance in chapter #1 of the manga (Episode #1 in the anime). Her picture appears on the cover of Volume 2. She is also the featured character of the second image album.

Cooking - Her cooking ability is far above par. You see Yakumo's cooking in several occasions throughout the series. The other characters always comment on her exceptional culinary skills. A few memorable instances are when she makes Onigiri for Harima when he comes to her house to fix her AC (See the Riceball Faction). Another instance is when Tenma has a sleep over and Yakumo serves the girls dessert.
Drawing - Yakumo takes manga editing lessons from Mitsui, the Chief Editor. She also assists Harima with his Manga, doing the inking work.
Sewing - Yakumo is talented and well trained when it comes to sewing. One occasion where you see an instance of this is in Episode 24. Previously Eri had made repairs on a jacket of Harima's. Without knowing, Yakumo sees the poor stitch work and repairs it herself with an exceptional result.
6. Ichijou Karen Ichijou Karen is one of the quieter girls of 2-C, but don't let her timid looks and fragile body fool you. She is one of the strongest girls in School Rumble, rivaling both Suou Mikoto and Lala Gonzalez in strength and athleticism. Ichijou's story focuses mainly on the relationship between her and Imadori Kyousuke, and her major contribution to 2-C's victory in the Sports Festival. Ichijou first debuts in Chapter 47 of the manga and episode 14 of the TV series (she has a very minor role in Ep. 7). She appears on the cover of manga Volume 5. She has her own image album at no.6, and isthe lead singer for Class 2-C's band.

One of Ichijou's defining features is her supernatural strength. She is able to lift a piano by herself, and crush an apple with one hand. Her strength comes from her constant training in the art of wrestling. She is in the wrestling club along with Mihara Kozue and Lala Gonzalez. Her wrestling skill is only rivalled by Lala Gonzalez at this point. Ichijou is also able to perform several pro-wrestling move, including the famous German Suplex, and her own version of the Frankenstiener, called Nymph's Dance. For a list of Ichijou's combat moves, as well as moves by other characters, go to the SR Combat Guide page. Oddly enough, Karen does not conciously use these moves. Instead, whenever she is challenged, her body reacts on it's own. After completion of the move, Karen returns to her normal self, and often apologizes to whoever was on the recieving end of whatever devestating move she just preformed. Ichijou's athletic talent does not end at just wrestling. She, along with Hanai Haruki, forms the most formidable Kibasen Team at the Sports Festival. Here, Karen displays excellent agility and dexterity by climbing the 2-A pyramid with ease in order to get their rider's headband, then nibly returning to her mount. The combination of these two enabled the class of 2-C to snatch victory from their rivals, the class of 2-D. She also joined the newly-formed girls' basketball team, though it's unclear whether she remained a member after the Basketball Arc, or if, like Suou, she retired from basketball following the team's first match. If you think that Ichijou only has physical talents, you will be surprised to know that Ichijou can sing very well. In fact, she can sing in English as well. She is the lead singer for Class 2-C's band. One talent she has not mastered, however, is getting Imadori Kyousuke's attention, since Imadori mainly cares about large breasts. She is also very self-concious and introverted, blushing when complemented on her figure (Sagano does this in the bath house S2 Ep 4).
7. Harima Kenji The sunglasses toting delinquent with a heart of gold is a steady favorite amongst fans of the series. Harima Kenji stands out as a very different kind of leading male, possessing qualities opposite to those found in most protagonists of the genre. Proud and violent, Harima is the terror of the school. Whenever he appears people run away from him, wherever he is there’s always whispering behind his back. And with reason, since it won’t take more than looking at him the wrong way for him to kick your ass into oblivion. That’s probably the reason why he has many enemies who always want to beat him up, only to end up flat on the ground, unconscious, and probably with a few broken bones.

Harima’s indisputable talent is fighting. Even though he never studied any form of martial art, his fighting skills, developed through constant street-fighting, match those of a black belt. Even though he’s fought many times with Hanai Haruki, a black belt in Kempo and Aikido, their matches always end up in a draw. At some point in the story, Harima develops the ability to communicate with animals, turning him into a sort of psychic, and he uses this to do fortune-telling on the streets. This unusual talent draws the attention of Tsukamoto Tenma’s younger sister, Yakumo, who always wanted to read her cat’s mind. As a way to express his feelings and to distract himself from Tenma, Harima starts drawing manga. He turns out to be quite good at it and his work impresses the chief editor of a famous publisher, who urges him to continue and participate in a contest. Because of his advice, Harima seeks out Yakumo’s help and she ends up becoming his assistant. Even though Harima’s ineptitude in schoolwork is only matched by Tenma’s, unlike her, he’s very good at and excels in any kind of sport. Other talents include riding a motorcycle.
8. Hanai Haruki Both smart and strong, Hanai is probably the best student in his class, along with Takano Akira. He’s also a great martial artist with a black belt in kempo (kenpo). Quite capable of holding his own in a fight, he regularly displays his prowess not only by fighting Harima all the time but also by defeating opponents from other dojos.

Hanai has shown his talent in sports and physical activities as well, such as running, hockey, and other sports. He always put his maximum effort and energy for what he's doing and has been titled, God of Wind, from what he have accomplish in a relay track race. Putting his best effort into whatever he does and always demanding the best of himself, he’s never content with less than the best results in whatever he does, so whatever he decides to do he does it well (except playing the flute, which no matter how hard he tried, he never managed to learn how to play a single decent note with). This includes sports, cooking and ordering people around. If he could put that much effort into his social skills, he could probably have a chance to win Yakumo’s heart.
9. Karasuma OojiPokerfaced and taciturn, Karasuma Ooji is one of School Rumble's biggest mysteries. Living in his own ‘special world’, the school weirdo Karasuma, seems oblivious to the rest of the world around him. Always silent, the only thing he ever seems to do is looking out the classroom window. His blank, expressionless face never gives away the slightest sign of emotions, just like his flat, robot –like voice.
Tallents
**********
Apart from being really good at confusing and freaking people out, Karasuma is really good at many other things. The first of them being bicycle racing, as shown in episode #1, where he outruns both Tsukamoto Tenma and Harima Kenji, and a train, and a racing car (an Initial D spoof), riding a single-gear bicycle. Number 2 on his list of talents is being unbeatable at playing cards; as his expressionless poker-face is impossible to read. The next amazing talent he possesses is drawing manga. Unsuspected by anyone, Karasuma Ooji is actually the legendary mangaka known as “Nijou”, whose work is the inspiration of many aspiring artists, including classmate and rival Harima Kenji. Even though it seems as if Karasuma was also a good fighter, this is only speculation, as he’s never been shown fighting anyone. What is true is the fact that he possesses amazing physical abilities, as he easily avoids Harima Kenji’s staple move, The Hari-Ken Kick (hurricane kick), by jumping up in the air in an awesome back-flip in episode #10. Other talents include being good at Kanji, and playing the guitar in his class’ band.
10. Imadori KyousukeNicknamed the Hummingbird, Imadori is one of the Five Elite Tigers, and he has pledged to be sworn brothers with Nishimoto Ganji in "the Oath of the Video store." Imadori was first introduced as a minor supporting character, but he came to shine as a unique kind of character and took on a major supporting role, since his first major appearance at the beach trip in episode #12, and throughout the series after that. Whereas most characters seem to usually have a good chemistry with only one or two other characters in the series, Imadori seems to create a great and enjoyable interaction with most of the characters he comes across with, thanks to his self-centered attitude and his obsession with D cups. Such chemistry is ever present between he and the likes of Suou Mikoto, Ichijou Karen, Lala Gonzalez and Hanai Haruki; and each of them is a very different relationship, which in its own creates a wide range of possibilities for character development.

Imadori Kyousuke is famous for his unmatched ability to evaluate women breast sizes only by looking at them, using the bra cup sizes as a measuring standard. Because of this unique talent, he is an invaluable comrade to Nishimoto the Buddha and his gang of perverts. Other talents include flirting with girls, annoying people, running and swimming.
